From an analysis of Antonio Ferrigno’s emblematic work, Preta Quitandeira (1900), crossed by the peculiar cities of Ítalo Calvino, Joice proposes a reflection guided by Beatriz Nascimento’s perceptions on the black body, with its transatlantic memories still present, by the assumptions of epigenetics, co-creating a city apart, which resists because it starts, first, from the concept of body-territory.
